When they aren’t in the shop taking care of everyone else’s cars, Michael and Wilma turn their attention to race cars. Michael drives Don Nelson’s “California Hustler” Nitro Funny Car. It’s a replica of a vintage 1977 Pontiac Firebird riding on a modern tubular steel chassis built by Victory Race Cars. RC Fabrication formed the carbon fiber body, sporting an original paint design by legendary funny car artist Kenny Youngblood and applied by Ed Whippie at Team Auto Collision.
At the 25th California Hot Rod Reunion, Michael raced down the quarter mile with a quick time of 5.662 seconds elapsed time at a top speed of 259.26 miles per hour.
